Author(s): Edited by J Wiseman, M Varley, S McOrist & B KempRegular meetings on Pig Science held at the University of Nottingham within the Easter School series, have become an established part of the international conference calendar with gatherings held every 4-5 years. Principles of Pig Science was held in 1993; Progress in Pig Science in 1997 and Perspectives in Pig Science in 2002. The latest meeting was held in July 2007, to coincide with the Chinese Year of the Pig, named Paradigms in Pig Science.
The name has in fact raised many eyebrows and caused many to reach for their dictionaries !
It is felt that this represents our most ambitious meeting to date. We have invited a total of 28 presenters who are regarded both nationally and internationally as experts in their respective field. The recent opening of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science at the Sutton Bonington Campus, University of Nottingham, has allowed us to widen the subjects covered.
The meeting is organized by Prof Julian Wiseman, Dr Steve McOrist (Nottingham), Dr Mike Varley (SCA Provimi) and Prof Bas Kemp (Wageningen). It is arranged into several sessions, being:
